DVM, Practice Limited to Critical Care

Heather Honious

(Richmond/Midlothian - Emergency & Critical Care)

Dr. Heather Honious was born and bred a buckeye and grew up just outside of Dayton, Ohio before moving to rural Illinois for middle and high school. She graduated with honors in Zoology and Evolutionary Ecology from The Ohio State University in 2009, and from there went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois in 2013. Dr. Honious then completed a rotating internship at Virginia Tech followed by a specialty internship in neurology and critical care in Dallas, Texas. She returned to the Midwest to complete a residency in emergency and critical care at Mizzou, where she then worked as a Clinical Instructor, training students, technicians, and future veterinary specialists in the emergency room and ICU.

Dr. Honious is thrilled to return to Virginia and help build a critical care program in Richmond to help bring cutting-edge, life-saving care to our sickest patients. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Honious enjoys aerial performance arts, dancing, cooking, backpacking, and spending time with her two German Shepherds, three cats, a ball python, and a small horde of houseplants.
