Originally from the small town of Cumberland, RI, Dr. Mercurio graduated as a class salutatorian from Assumption College in Worcester, MA. He attended Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, then headed south where he completed a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at the University of Georgia. Dr. Mercurio completed a combined master of science and small animal surgery residency at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, and earned his board certification in small animal surgery. Dr. Mercurio enjoys all aspects of soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, with special interests in surgical diseases of the upper airway, fracture repair, and advanced oncological surgery. When he isn’t helping animals, Dr. Mercurio enjoys camping, skiing, going to the beach, playing guitar, drawing, and painting.
